At The Ackerly at Reed’s Crossing, we believe that exceptional senior living starts with something simple: putting people first.

That’s why we’re honored to share that The Ackerly at Reed’s Crossing has been recognized as Best of Hillsboro Assisted Living by BusinessRate, an award based on verified customer reviews and resident feedback.

While we’re grateful for the recognition, what matters most to us is what it represents: the experiences of the residents, families, and team members who make our community such a special place to call home.

A Community Built Around Connection

BusinessRate Best Retirement Community 2026At The Ackerly, we know that today’s older adults aren’t slowing down. They’re embracing aging as an opportunity to lean in, not step back; to express, not repress; to pursue passions, not retire from purpose. They’re reframing the senior years as a time to break stereotypes, explore new experiences, deepen relationships, and leave a meaningful legacy – with courage, confidence, and creativity.

Whether residents are joining a fitness class, enjoying a chef-prepared meal with friends, attending an educational program, or simply relaxing with neighbors over coffee, every day is designed to foster meaningful connections and a sense of purpose.

Our residents tell us that one of the things they appreciate most is the welcoming atmosphere. New neighbors quickly become friends, and our team works hard to ensure every resident feels known, valued, and supported.

“As a resident for more than a year, I’ve appreciated knowing I have services and support in the building where I live: exceptional meals, weekly housekeeping, security, an abundance of physical, mental, creative, and social opportunities. Connection with the broader Portland community is fostered with volunteer opportunities, outings, and entertainment both outside and inside the Ackerly community. The Ackerly is an integral part of the new Reed’s Crossing development in South Hillsboro and I am grateful to be part of it.” – Barbara C.

Personalized Support, When You Need It

No two people age the same way. That’s why we focus on delivering personalized experiences that meet residents where they are today while supporting their goals for tomorrow.

From independent living to assisted living to memory care, our team is committed to helping residents maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. We take the time to understand individual preferences, routines, and needs so that support feels natural, empowering, and personal.

For those who could benefit from a little extra support, our hospitality-based care services provide assistance with daily activities while helping residents maintain as much independence as possible. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, support is tailored to each individual and delivered with warmth, respect, and genuine care.

Residents living with memory loss receive specialized support through Opal by Leisure Care®, our signature memory care program. Grounded in dignity, connection, and purposeful engagement, Opal focuses on each person’s unique abilities, life story, and strengths while creating opportunities for meaningful moments every day.

The Ackerly is also proud to offer pet-friendly living in both independent living and assisted living. We know that pets are family, and for many older adults, the companionship, comfort, and routine they provide contribute significantly to overall well-being and quality of life.

For families, that means greater peace of mind knowing their loved one is supported by a compassionate team that truly knows them. For residents, it means having the confidence and freedom to focus on what matters most, whether that’s pursuing hobbies, spending time with friends, exploring new interests, or simply enjoying each day to the fullest.

“Absolutely love this place! My mom lives in the memory care part of the Ackerly. It is big, bright, comfortable, clean and very well staffed. All (and I do mean ALL) of the caregivers are very educated and experienced with elder care and they have very kind hearts and true affection for the people. The food is delicious and ample. There is plenty of room for the residents to get some physical activity and the activities director provides loads of interesting opportunities. I love visiting Mom, and I sleep better at night knowing she is in such good care!” – Wanda S.

The Power of Community

Research continues to show that social connection, physical activity, lifelong learning, and a sense of purpose all contribute to healthier aging. At The Ackerly, these principles aren’t reserved for special occasions; they’re woven into everyday life.

Central to this approach is PrimeFit Wellness™, Leisure Care’s signature wellness program. PrimeFit Wellness goes beyond traditional fitness by supporting the social, physical, mental, emotional, and communal aspects of well-being. It’s a proactive, whole-person approach designed to help residents continue to grow, not simply age.

That commitment comes to life throughout the community. Residents enjoy instructor-led fitness classes, balance-focused programming, walking groups, wellness coaching, lifelong learning opportunities, engaging social events, volunteer initiatives, and experiences designed to keep both the body and mind active. PrimeFit Wellness also extends into dining, where chef-prepared meals, fresh ingredients, and thoughtful nutrition support healthy living and meaningful social connections.

Just as important as physical wellness is the opportunity to connect with others. Dynamic activity calendars, resident-led clubs, cultural programs, educational events, and shared experiences create countless opportunities to build friendships and foster a genuine sense of belonging. Whether gathering for a fitness class, attending a lecture, enjoying dinner with neighbors, or participating in a community service project, residents find meaningful ways to stay engaged and connected.

It’s a lifestyle that supports not only physical health, but also mental sharpness, emotional well-being, social connection, and a renewed sense of purpose. At The Ackerly, community isn’t simply where you live, it’s where you belong.
