Celebrating a Lifetime of Achievement at San Marino

Celebrating a Lifetime of Achievement at San Marino

San Marino is an incredible senior living community. Featuring luxurious amenities and person-centered care, retirement here can’t be beaten. But, we know that what really makes special has nothing to do with our stunning courtyards, concierge service, or even our full-service salon. What really makes San Marino a special senior living community is our residents. Our residents are compassionate and kind. They truly care about each other, the San Marino community, and the larger Westminster community.

One of our residents who truly embodies the attitude of service and loyalty is Vi June, the former mayor of Westminster. Her lifetime of service was recently honored as she was awarded the 2018 Nancy Heil Lifetime Achievement Award by the Westminster Legacy Foundation.

Vi’s service to the Westminster community spans five decades. Elected to City Council, she started her political career in 1965. Vi went on to serve as the city’s first female mayor from 1975 to 1981, playing an integral role in the city’s development and planning. Additionally, she worked for several local papers and published over 2,000 columns in her career. Vi also served as a State Representative for 8 years, worked for a school district as the public relations director, founded the Westminster Progressive Homeowners Association in 1981, and worked for the Chamber of Commerce. While making a lasting impact in the community, Vi also raised five children and is now a grandmother to eight grandchildren.

The Nancy Heil Lifetime Achievement Award is the city’s most prestigious award. It is presented to an individual living in Westminster who has made “lifelong contributions of lasting significance to the City of Westminster”.

We would love for you to stop by San Marino and meet our amazing residents! Come by for a meal and have lunch on us! We promise you’ll leave inspired by the life stories of our residents!
