A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Ackerly at Sherwood

The residents at Ackerly at Sherwood recently enjoyed themed dinner of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. From the food to the entertainment, the course of the evening ran much smoother than Shakespeare’s commentary on love. Our staff worked together to develop decor and a menu that evoked and represented themes and symbols from the play. The dining experience was totally immersive with the food itself playing a major role in the evening’s decor. The food was divided into two styles based on the settings in the play and included Grecian food such as stuffed grape leaves, mussels, yogurt, honey, and Mediterranean chicken, as well as the flavors of the forest which included salmon, roast pork, and veggies. The meal was made complete with an extensive wine selection.

Residents were provided flowers and greenery to wear throughout the evening. We even had a local Shakespeare company provided live entertainment by acting out four scenes from the play.
