Canfield Place equips residents with healthy educational tools, increasing the quality of life of residents and leading to an increased desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle. National Senior Health and Fitness Day is an important reminder to residents of what they should be incorporating into their daily routines and this year’s National Senior Health and Fitness Day got our residents moving! Canfield Place residents participated in a local walk and learned how to make healthy choices in their everyday lives.

Canfield Place walks for National Senior Fitness DayOn Wednesday, May 29th, our residents and staff gathered at Beaverton City Park to join the local community for a walk and the chance to win raffle prizes while enjoying the beautiful weather. As residents signed in and registered, they were entered to win some of our many raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses for the occasion.

Residents and their family members had the option to complete the quarter-mile loop as many times as they liked! The event left everyone feeling accomplished, happy, and healthier as Canfield came together for such a fun event. Not only was the weather perfect, but residents truly took to heart National Senior Health and Fitness Day’s slogan “Live and thrive with exercise!” Seeing everyone walk, regardless of age, employees, family members, and residents joined together to exercise both their mind and bodies.

“It was a perfect day outside to go on a walk in Beaverton City Park, there were so many fantastic prizes!” – Yvonne Miller

“I really liked the fun games our PrimeFit Instructor had for us, everyone seemed to have a great time, I loved walking with other residents too!”– Cookie King

Here at Canfield Place, we understand the importance of a holistic approach to health. Attending exercise classes, working on fall prevention, and participating in weekly brain games are only some things residents can engage in at our community. By providing activities that are exciting and fun, residents have the chance to try new activities and continue ones they are passionate about with fellow residents.

We offer a variety of programs that encompass physical, spiritual, social, and mental health. Thank you to our residents and their families who participated in National Senior Health and Fitness Day, encouraging seniors to move their bodies and exercise their brains!
