What began as a simple before-school job for Shadle Park High School senior Makenzie Fager quickly turned into something much more meaningful. Each morning, as she served breakfast to residents, conversations turned into friendships. Residents looked forward to her smile, and Makenzie looked forward to hearing their stories.

When basketball season rolled around, those relationships came full circle. Residents who had grown fond of Makenzie showed up to support her from the front row at her final games, proudly cheering her on like family.
