Hawthorne Court Scholarship Committee

Hawthorne Court is proud to be the home of many retired schoolteachers. In fact, that’s one reason why education is so important to us. Learn more about how our residents support the education of local high school students through an annual scholarship fund.

Hawthorne Court's 2017 Scholarship Winner Hawthorne Court residents play an integral role in the larger Kennewick community. Our independent living and assisted living residents are passionate about the education of local students and we are proud of our resident-run scholarship fund. For more than 30 years, the Hawthorne Court Scholarship Committee has helped dozens of students throughout Kennewick pursue education for careers that benefit senior citizens.

Our residents raise funds throughout the year that include an annual holiday bazaar, a bake sale, a Valentine delivery service, movie matinees, raffles, and more. Each year, the committee works closely with high school counselors and gives students the opportunity to apply for the scholarship. The committee reviews applications, meets with applicants, and then selects the recipient each year.

When the candidate is selected, he or she is invited to a meet and greet with Hawthorne Court residents. We strive to create lasting relationships with the final recipients and, even 32 years later, we still receive a holiday card from our very first scholarship winner.

Hawthorne Court is committed to making a difference in our local community. Stop by our community today to learn more about the scholarship and our other community service endeavors!

Live Big. Live Bold.

Retirement should feel like you’re on a permanent vacation which is exactly why our communities celebrate freedom from obligation, helping you pursue new interests.
