Leisure Care Honors Service of Veteran Employees

veterans day

Alissa Sauer

As we approach Veterans Day, it is with great pride and deep gratitude that we acknowledge the remarkable veterans and their families who are an integral part of the Leisure Care family. These individuals have served our nation with unwavering dedication and commitment, and they continue to serve our residents and communities with the same sense of duty, honor, and camaraderie.

Meet Our Veterans

We are proud that many veterans and their families have decided to work in our communities. Their discipline, teamwork, and strong work ethic have benefited residents, their families, and their co-workers. Service comes in many forms. Just as they once served your country in uniform, they now serve in our communities with the same sense of duty, commitment, and honor.

Bill Ritchie, Driver at The Linden At Murrieta

Bill Ritchie“I enjoy working for The Linden because of the people …  both the residents and staff, along with the sense of camaraderie that comes with being employed here and the feeling of giving back to the community. Having been in the U.S. Marine Corps previously gave me a sense of pride in uniform and belonging to a noble cause in defending this great country of ours.”

Bill is passionate about working at The Linden and prioritizes the people – the residents and the staff to discover a profound sense of giving back to the community. Bill’s service as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran instilled in him a sense of pride and belonging to a noble cause, defending our great nation. Thank you, Bill!

Anthony Neal, Executive Chef at MacKenzie Place

Anthony Neal“Out of my 6 ½ years I was deployed 5 times overseas  was Desert Storm and Desert Shield. I enjoyed my 6 ½ years in the Navy and the many places I visited and lifelong friends I made. I enjoy working at MacKenzie Place because it allows me the freedom as a Chef to create expiring dishes for the residents. I enjoy being around the residents and listening to their feedback whether good or bad, which inspires me to be more creative each week when writing the daily specials. I think it’s an honor and privilege that I get to work and serve the residents and their families.”

Anthony served in the U.S. Navy for 6 and half years. He deployed five times in support of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield and served on the USS Gary FFG-51 from (89-92), USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 (92-94) and Tacron 11 (94-95). During his tim in the Navy, he he tracked ships, aircraft, and identified friend or foe.

Jason Garcia, Plant Operations at The Linden at Murrieta

Jason Garcia“Choosing to work at the Linden was easy because many of their principles and values were in line with the ones I learned from the Marines. In the military you are molded to lead from the moment you join. They focus more on how you lead rather than who or how many you lead, which the Linden management does a great job emulating as well. One shared concept I noticed with the Linden is that, ‘if serving is beneath you, then leadership is beyond you.’ We are always looking to promote within those staff members who love to serve and be a team player, which makes working for the Linden management, a great experience!”

Jason is a veteran with 15 years of service in the Marines. He found purpose and camaraderie in the Marines, which led him to embrace a life dedicated to something greater than himself. His tours to Iraq, Afghanistan, and a humanitarian mission to the Philippines exposed him to the transformative power of service. At Leisure Care, he discovered an environment that values leadership and service, much like his experience in the military.

In celebrating Veterans Day, we not only pay tribute to these exemplary individuals but also recognize the values they embody: resilience, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to a cause greater than themselves. Their service in the military has seamlessly transitioned into their roles at Leisure Care, enriching our communities with the same discipline, teamwork, and strong work ethic that contributed to our collective successes.

Candice Fowler, Daughter of Clint Fowler, Director of Resident Services

Candice Fowler, US Air Force“Candice’s service is reflective of her intellect, determination and dedication to stand in the gap of what makes this Country so great, and any forces that look to challenge our freedoms.  Her family is beyond proud of her, and keeps her close in thought and prayer daily.”

Thank you, Veterans!

For all our employees, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. Let us remember the remarkable dedication and service, both in uniform and in our communities, as we pay tribute to these extraordinary individuals this Veterans Day.

Thank you for your service and for making a positive difference in the lives of our residents.
