Staying active is an essential part of life at Fairwinds – River’s Edge. Our residents enjoy a holistic approach to health through PrimeFit Wellness in our independent living community. PrimeFit Wellness is a signature program offered exclusively by Leisure Care communities to incorporate living well in every aspect of life fully. Fairwinds – River’s Edge residents stay active through various activities, but dancing is a resident favorite. Learn how our residents are dancing the days (and nights) away at Fairwinds – River’s Edge!
We believe that senior living is just the beginning! It’s a time to revisit lifelong passions in a new way. Several of our residents have a passion for dance and share their passion with our residents.
Jeanne Laminger grew up dancing and attending square dances with her parents. When dating her husband, Larry, she told him that he would need to learn how to dance and do it all his life. He did, and they are still dancing. She opened a dance studio with friends, teaching children and seniors. She has taught tap, line dance, and aerobics. Now, at Fairwinds, Larry and Jeanne host a “dance for fun” time as well as a swing dance class. Her favorite quote is,
“You don’t quit dancing when you get old. You get old when you quit dancing.”
Another Fairwinds resident, Dolores Rehling, has also danced her entire life. Growing up during the Great Depression, Dolores took free classes at parks and participated in school pageants, later teaching the pageants that her children were in. Once her children were grown, she opened her own studio and volunteered to dance at senior communities. She has hosted dance classes at Fairwinds and now enjoys dancing with Jeanne and Larry. She said that “Dancing is physically, mentally, and emotionally rewarding for her.”
We would love for you to join us for a dance class! We host a dance class in our community each week and are proud to sponsor the 2022 Big Band Dances at Mid Rivers Mall on May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, and September 9.
Live Big. Live Bold.
Retirement should feel like you’re on a permanent vacation which is exactly why our communities celebrate freedom from obligation, helping you pursue new interests.
