A Focus on Charity at Fairwinds – Sand Creek

Living Room - Fairwinds - Ivey Ranch Retirement Community

Alissa Sauer

Fairwinds – Sand Creek is Idaho Falls premier senior living community. Offering independent living and assisted living services, residents at Fairwinds – Sand Creek enjoy Five-Star care every day. Here, luxury living is perfectly balanced with adventure and fun, giving residents the opportunity to grow and lead. To put it simply, residents at Fairwinds – Sand Creek have the time of their life in the prime of their life.

Part of Five-Star living means enjoying a true sense of belonging in a strong community that feels like home. Our community is committed to fostering a true sense of community and belonging that cannot help but overflow to our local community. We believe in a Three-Thirds Lifestyle that prioritizes work and life balance that incorporates giving back to our larger communities. Giving equal weight to three fundamental aspects of family, philanthropy, and work. Fairwinds – Sand Creek considers the larger Idaho Falls community as part of our global family, deserving of our time and attention.

As part of our focus on serving our global family, we partnered with the One Eighty Foundation to raise over $10,000 for two charities during our 27th Annual Ken Madsen Memorial Senior Golf Scramble. The tournament took place on July 18 at Pinecrest Golf Course and dinner followed at Fairwinds – Sand Creek. This year’s tournament included 175 golfers, and over 200 people joined for the dinner and auction that evening. We were honored to be joined by Dan Madsen, CEO of Leisure Care and the son of Ken Madsen, as well as several other colleagues from the Leisure Care office in Seattle.

Proceeds benefitted two charities, The Haven Shelter and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The Haven Shelter provides emergency shelter, short term transitional housing, and supportive services to homeless families and single women. They work with people to develop a plan that encourages and leads to self-sufficiency. Sleep in Heavenly Peace makes and delivers high-quality bunk beds to children and families in need. They have built over 4,000 beds and, thanks to their efforts, over 9,000 children no longer sleep without a bed.

It’s our honor and privilege to give back to the local community year-round, and especially through the Annual Ken Madsen Memorial Senior Golf Scramble. We would love for you to join us next year and learn more about life at Fairwinds – Sand Creek!
