Canfield Place Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

The fun never ends at Canfield Place! We believe that special events and holidays are meant to be celebrated with those you love. For us, that means our residents! Learn more about our St. Patrick’s Day bash complete with traditional food, drink, and even an Irish fiddler.

On March 17, our residents and staff dressed head to toe in green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Irish fiddler Molly Dechenne kicked off the party with live entertainment and played a variety of Irish songs to get us in the spirit! Our culinary team provided traditional Irish soda bread, corned beef, cheese and crackers, and Irish cookies.

We also had an Irish beer tasting and our Program Supervisor Susan Christopher taught us about two different types of Irish beer, George Killian’s Irish Red Lager and Guinness’ famous draught stout. Residents learned how each beer was made and the historical background of beer in Ireland. As residents asked questions, they sampled the different beers and made notes. Some even asked if we could purchase some on our next grocery trip!

We truly enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with our residents and their family members. We understand how important it is to celebrate special holidays as many of our residents no longer have the opportunity to celebrate with a spouse or close friends. By providing fun and engaging programs, our residents continue to enjoy the holidays and make new memories!
