At The Landing of Silver Spring, residents are making the most of every day while staying healthy and closely following social distancing guidelines. Take a closer look at how the staff at The Landing of Silver Spring are helping residents to live better than ever, while staying healthier than ever.

We know we are living in unpredictable times but the residents at The Landing of Silver Spring are making the most of every day and taking every opportunity to actively engage with friends and family in a healthy way.

For Mother’s Day, our team hosted a ‘Sip and Paint’ outdoor lunch for residents in memory care. Residents and staff respected social distancing guidelines while painting outside. The son of a resident noted,

“This was a wonderful event! I was especially happy to get to see my dad through his window in Opal!”

Additionally, Louise Sindo, a resident at The Landing of Silver Spring has a friend whose daughter was recently married outside of the Bronx Zoo in New York City. Our dedicated staff set up a Zoom call so that Louise could attend the wedding virtually.  It was a team effort and credit for making this event happen goes to our activities team, Candice and Shanti. The team came together to decorate Louise’s apartment so it truly felt like she was at the wedding.

“Imagine when Christopher Columbus came over and discovered this brand new world – that’s how I felt! The whole thing was absolutely mind-blowing. I was so confused during the set-up, I had no idea what was happening and then all of a sudden I was at the wedding! And there was a little border at the top with pictures of everybody who was there. I don’t even know how they got my picture!” – Louise S., resident

At The Landing of Silver Spring, we are doing what it takes to ensure our residents stay healthy. Part of aging well and staying healthy is staying actively engaged with the community. While residents and staff may not be able to physically interact, they are contenting to build meaningful connections and make lasting memories.
